Pac 10 College Football Betting – 2009 Pac 10 Odds at Sportsbooks Favor USC

The Pac-10 is usually all about the USC Trojans but in 2009 there are some other teams to keep an eye on in college football betting, especially California.

USC is -250 to win the Pac-10 at online sportsbooks. California is the second choices at 4-1 in college football betting with Oregon rounding at the top three at 5-1.

USC returns 12 starters from last year but not QB Mark Sanchez. The Trojans will be turning the offense over to a true freshman for the first time ever as Matt Barkley has the job.

Barkley is a blue chip recruit that could be better than any of the recent USC quarterbacks but maybe not in his first year.

The problem for USC in sports odds could be on defense where they lost a lot of talent. The Trojans just reload but there is no question this year’s defense will not be as good as a year ago for college football odds.

Pac 10 conference currently have USC -250 and California +400.

USC has a number of big games in college football lines this season including Week #2 at Ohio State but in the conference, the game on October 3rd at California is the key one.

California returns 15 starters from last season and could be poised to challenge USC if they can get solid quarterback play. The Bears have a great running back in Jahvid Best so they just need Kevin Riley to make smart decisions.

Cal’s defense could be very good this season and that might give them the edge in college football betting odds against USC.

Oregon has a new head coach in Chip Kelly and a potent offense for betting college football lines. Jeremiah Masoli is a threat to impact college football betting all season. He had 13 passing TDs and 10 rushing TDs last year. The problem for Oregon is on defense and that will probably be why they finish behind USC and Cal in BCS odds.

Oregon State has Jacquizz Rodgers in the backfield and that makes them a threat in the Pac-10. Quarterback Lyle Moevao is coming off shoulder surgery so that is a concern. The Beavers have some defensive questions just like the Ducks do, but their offense is not good enough to trade points with teams.

Pac 10 conference currently have Oregon +500 and Oregon State +1200.

The rest of the teams in the Pac-10 are really longshots in college football odds. Arizona has to replace quarterback Willie Tuitama while Arizona State has to replace Rudy Carpenter.

Stanford is making progress under Jim Harbaugh but they are not an elite team yet. UCLA is also making progress but they don’t have a quarterback. Washington and Washington State are simply not very good.
