The Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins are meeting for the 32nd time in NHL playoffs odds, by far the most of any two teams in NHL history.

The Canadiens have dominated the Bruins in the playoffs, winning 24 of their 31 meetings, including a 4-3 series victory in the opening round last year but for that success to continue this season the Canadiens are going to have to win a game in Boston and that is something they haven’t done recently.

The Bruins took a very competitive Game 1 in this series, winning 4-2 as Zdeno Chara scored the game winner in the third period.

“He’s our heart and soul. I think it’s pretty obvious he’s such a valuable player for us, and he’s done a great job in all areas, so I can’t say enough about him,” Boston head coach Claude Julien said.

NHL Playoffs odds makers at BetUS sportsbook have the Bruins -240 favorites at home in NHL playoffs odds against the Canadiens +200 with a NHL betting total of 5.5 UNDER -130.5.

The Canadiens tried to send a message after the Bruins scored an empty net goal in the last few seconds but Julien was not concerned.

“I’m one of those guys that understands that it’s playoffs, there’s a lot of emotion, there may be frustration and stuff like that,” said Julien. “[The Habs] were trying to send a message, even in the last 15 seconds, But as far as I’m concerned, to me, that’s just playoff hockey.”

More of the same could be on tap on Saturday night at 8:05pm EST on CBC.
