Manchester United Favored in Champions League Betting

Manchester United played Inter Milan to a road draw in the first leg of the Champions League betting round of 16 and superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is confident that will be enough for United to advance.

United will play the second leg at home on Wednesday, March 11th against Milan and plays the Carling Cup final on Sunday.

Manchester United controlled the game at the San Siro on Tuesday but couldn’t get the winning goal. Ronaldo is very confident they will win at home in the second leg.

“Of course we respect Inter because they are a very strong team but we are not scared of them.” Ronaldo said.

“The aim is to play as we did in the first half at the San Siro. If we succeed, I am convinced that this time the end result will be different.”

In other Champions League betting round of 16 action it was Arsenal getting a much needed home win 1-0 against AS Roma. Robin van Persie scored a first-half penalty but Roma still has a chance because Arsenal wasted many chances to win by a large margin.

“I am happy with our performance but there was room to score more,” said Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

“One of the positives of the result is that we didn’t concede a goal. We had one chance after another early in the second half. When we tired in the final 20 minutes you could see that (Roma) could be dangerous as well.”

The second leg of Champions League betting will be played on March 11th in Rome.

Chelsea was able to get a 1-0 home win against Juventus in their first leg match; Bayern routed Sporting Lisbon 5-0 while Liverpool got a huge road win 1-0 at Real Madrid. Didier Drogba scored Chelsea’s goal but the Blues still could be in trouble considering they never win in England.

“It’s important, but it’s just one game,” Liverpool coach Rafael Benitez said, “Experience tells you that you have to speak on the field and Liverpool’s players did that.”

There were three draws in first leg action as Lyon was able to get a home 1-1 draw against Barcelona, Atletico Madrid played FC Porto to a 2-2 home draw and Villarreal and Panathinaikos played to a 1-1 draw.
