Bush Takes Sonoma – NASCAR Betting

CALIFORNIA — Kyle Busch ended a two-week slump and raced to his first Sprint Cup Series win on a road course holding off David Gilliland and Jeff Gordon during a green-white checkered flag in Sunday’s Toyota Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway.

Busch led for 78 of the 112 laps in a banged up Toyota that raced so bad in practice he was certain that it would wreck on race day but instead he took the checkered flag for his fifth Sprint Cup victory this year.

The Joe Gibbs Racing crew had to wrestle with the Toyota to make it comfortable for Bush on Sunday.

Changes were made to the M&M Toyota after practice sessions on Friday and Saturday but Bush was still not pleased come race day.

“I’m not a very happy person right now,” said Bush walking into the pre-race driver meeting.

Bush started Sonoma at the Infineon Raceway in 30^th position due to terrible qualifying runs but was able to move through the field and take the lead from defending champion Juan Pablo Montoya on an early restart.

“When we were here on Friday, I thought it was going to be a miserable weekend,” Busch said. “I was wondering which tire barrier I was going to put it in. But we came so far. We’ve never turned a racecar around so much. We came from 30th to 13th during that first green-flag run before the first caution — that was pretty cool.”

Busch remains the series leader with 2048 points holding a 103 point lead over Jeff Burton in second-place.

∙ Jimmy Johnson finished 15th to hold onto fifth position in Cup standings and 326.
∙ Matt Kenseth took over 12th in points after Kevin Harvick (30th on Sunday), dropped three positions to 13th.
