With the conclusions of the AFC and NFC championship games, bookmakers had opened Super Bowl Vegas odds with an early line of PK and an over/under total set at 47 for the Seahawks vs Broncos. Just a few days later however, it seems sportsbooks are as jittery as a defensive line listening to Peyton Manning yell Omaha moving the spread to Denver -2 at the Hilton and Wynn while the Mirage is favoring the Broncos -2½ with a total of 48. Super Bowl XLVIII can be seen live February 2nd on FOX from MetLife Stadium in New Jersey at 6:30pm EST.
Despite having one of the top ten defenses in the league, the Seattle Seahawks will take the field as underdogs after defeating the New Orleans Saints for the divisional title and the San Francisco 49ers for the conference championship. The Seattle defense is coming off a 23-17 performance last weekend forcing the 49ers into three 4th quarter turnovers to win the NFC and advance. In just his second season, QB Russell Wilson has led Seattle to the championship game. That being said, he must have a better performance than Sunday's if Seattle is to pull off an upset against the high octane Denver offense. Wilson completed just 16/25 for 215-yards against the 49ers with a fourth quarter touchdown to WR Jermain Kearse. Wilson must take control of the air against the 27th ranked defense of Denver if Seattle is to have any chance of covering the spread. Looking to bet on the Seahawks vs Broncos? Super Bowl Vegas odds at online sportsbook Bovada have Seattle listed as +3 underdogs despite paying out 12-6 ATS on the regular season.
Denver is listed as the betting favorite and deservingly so going 15-3 during the regular season with an 11-7 mark against the spread defeating the San Diego Chargers in the AFC divisional championship and the New England Patriots for the conference title. The Denver defense is also coming off an impressive 26-16 win last weekend after holding the Pats to just 3-points through three quarters while limiting QB Tom Brady to just 277-yards for a touchdown through the air. QB Peyton Manning and the offense had little problem dismantling New England's defense accounting for 400-passing yards and the 10-point win. Super Bowl odds in Vegas have the Broncos favored vs the Seahawks since the squad has recently gone 5-3 ATS when playing on the road but gamblers should note that predictions have Denver winning by a margin of one with a 35-34 score.
