![]() The Florida State Seminoles are the team to beat in the ACC, with a defensive unit expected to be their primary asset. If stalwart end Brandon Jenkins and a lauded line can replicate last year’s defensive dominance, the program could even follow through on their lofty college football odds. This season, defensive coordinator Mark Stoops will return, hopeful that Jenkins and company can follow up last season’s strong showing with another in 2012. Last year, FSU finished fourth in both points allowed (15.1) and total yards per game (275.0). Now with quarterback E.J. Manuel back taking snaps, fans are hoping the Seminoles will be able to take advantage of their standout defense by fielding a competent and mildly dangerous offense. Manuel will have the experience of last year and this offseason under his belt, but perhaps most importantly, a receiving corps capable of bringing out the best in him. With targets Rashad Greene and Rodney Smith back on campus, Manuel will have no shortage of weapons as he looks to prove that the Seminoles are more dangerous than critics expect. Although FSU sits high on the board of college football odds to win the BCS, they haven’t made significant noise nationally in over half a decade. For this to be the year where that changes, a lot will have to fall into place.
