![]() With the retirement announcement of Triple Crown contender I'll Have Another on Friday, Dullahan is the new 1/2 favorite to win on Saturday in Vegas Belmont betting odds for 2012. I’ll Have Another was the prohibitive 4/5 and sentimental favorite but now Dullahan and 10-other horses will be looking to take the winning share of the $1 million purse and the status of a Triple Crown race win. Dullahan will start from the number 5 post position and will be mounted by Javier Castellano with Dale Romans as his trainer. Dullahan last ran in the Kentucky Derby and finished in the money with a third place showing. Dullahan was in the back of the pack for much of the Derby before turning on the jets late, rising to 5th place at the stretch and then ending up as the show horse. Kent Desormeaux was on board for the ride at Churchill Downs. Prior to the Derby, Dullahan was the winner of the grade 1 Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland. The fact that Dullahan skipped the Preakness Stakes should mean that he is well rested and will have fresh legs for the grueling marathon that is "the test of champions", which is a mile and a half in length. Opening monring line odds had listed Dullahan as a 9/2 favorite but Vegas Belmont betting odds for 2012 currently have the Colt as a 1/2 favorite. Dullahan first caught the attention of horse players with a first place finish in the grade 1 Breeders Cup Futurity, also at Keeneland. He then finished a disappointing 4th in the grade 1 Breeders Cup Juvenile although it must be noted that was a star studded event of the finest two year old horses on the planet. Castellano will be riding Dullahan for the first time as Desormeaux was the regular jockey until this race. Romans is one of the most respected trainers in the game.
