![]() Junior dos Santos will look to defend his UFC betting heavyweight belt for the first time this weekend as he lines up against former champion Frank Mir from the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday. Although Mir’s UFC 146 odds (+350) may intrigue mixed martial arts bettors given his experience as a fighter and specifically as a UFC heavyweight title winner, there’s no denying that the younger dos Santos is the -500 favorite for a reason. Not only has dos Santos gone unbeaten in UFC bouts since his debut in 2008, his distinct skill set lines up with one of Mir’s greatest vulnerabilities. In each of his five career losses, Mir has fallen to punches, most recently by Shane Carwin at UFC 111. Will dos Santos, well-known as an elite-level boxer in the octagon, be able to strike his way to an early victory as a -500 betting favorite in UFC 146 odds? Given the momentum he’s established over the course of the past few years it’s hard to see why not. Of course, if the two end up on the ground and Mir’s experience comes into play, we may very well see the start of a surprising new reign for the MMA veteran. Other fights on the main fight card include Velasquez vs Silva, Nelson vs Herman, Miocic vs Del Rosario and Struve vs Johnson. Vegas UFC 146 odds have listed Cain Velasquez as a -375 UFC betting favorite over Antonio "Pezao" Silva at +285 while Roy Nelson is a -230 favorite to defeat Dave Herman as a +180 underdog. Sportsbooks also favor Stipe Miocic as a -155 favorite in his bout against Shane Del Rosario who is +125 while Lavar Johnson is a -125 favorite to defeat Stefan Struve as a -105 underdog. All the bouts on the main fight card including the undercard can be seen live on Pay Per View starting at 7:00pm EST on Saturday, May 26th from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. |
