2012 Super Bowl Predictions with NFL betting Lines and Prop Bets

We are less than a few hours from kick-off of the NFL championship game between the New York Giants and New England Patriots. 2012 Super Bowl predictions at Vegas sportsbooks and offshore have listed the Patriots as 3-point favorites in football betting lines vs the Giants (+3) while the over/under total has been listed at 53.5 for Sunday's title game on NBC. The moneyline also favors New England at -135 for the straight up win while New York would pay-out +115 for their second consecutive win over the Patriots when playing for the Lombardi trophy. In addition to point spread and money line odds that are available for the championship on February 5th, some sportsbooks are carrying over 500 prop bets on the big game including the player to score the first touchdown along with the Giants and Patriots player to score first touchdown. Let's take a look at a few of these wagers...

Although he has been wearing a boot for nearly two weeks and hasn't practiced with the team since suffering an ankle injury vs the Ravens in the AFC championship game, bookmakers still favor Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski at 6/1 as the player to score the first touchdown of the game. That basically means that on a $100 wager, the "Gronk" would return you a pay-out of $600 if he does in fact score the first TD of the game. Gronkowski's partner in crime, TE Aaron Hernandez, is the second betting choice in 2012 Super Bowl predictions to score the first touchdown of the game despite having only one score this postseason. New England RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis has also only found the endzone once during the playoffs and is the third choice in player to score the first touchdown prop bet at 15/2. Rounding out the top four will be the Giants WR Victor Cruz also at 15/2 who had nine TD's during the regular season but has yet to score in the postseason. New York RB Ahmad Bradshaw, WR Hakeem Nicks and New England WR Wes Welker are listed in Vegas at 8/1.

Both Nicks and Cruz had breakout years this season combing for 2,728-yards with 16-touchdowns and as such, bookmakers have listed the pair as 7/2 favorites to score the first TD for the Giants. Running back's Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs didn't put up much yards this year as the two combined for only 1,230-yards but they still found the endzone for 16-touchdowns during the regular season. 2012 Super Bowl predictions have Bradshaw as a slight 9/2 favorite over Jacobs at 6/1 to score the Giants first touchdown. Gronkowski is favored to score the first 6-points of the game and is obviously favored to score the Patriots first TD at 3/1. Hernandez is the second wagering choice in prop bets at 4/1 along with Welker. Green-Ellis is the fourth choice at 9/2 while WR Deion Branch who has a score against the Broncos during this year's playoffs is a 15/2 choice.
