The Florida International Golden Panthers won a school record of eight games this season and will be making their second consecutive bowl appearance when they head over to St. Petersburg to face the Marshall Thundering Herd on Tuesday December 20th for the 2011 Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl. The game is scheduled to kick-off at 8:00pm EST from Tropicana Field and can be seen live on ESPN or online at ESPN3. FIU concluded the season with an 8-4 record going 5-3 in the Sun Belt Conference while Marshall had a mediocre season going 6-6 overall and 5-3 in Conference USA action. FIU is coming off three straight wins and is favored by 3.5-points in bowl game predictions vs the Thundering Herd who finished the season with two straight wins. Football odds for the over/under betting total has been set at 48.5.
December 21st will feature the TCU Horned Frogs taking on the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl. Texas Christian didn't qualify for a BCS bid but still finished the season with a 10-2 record overall going undefeated at 7-0 in the Mountain West Conference. TCU is coming off six straight wins with their last being a 56-9 beating on UNLV and easily covered the spread as 39-point favorites to go 6-6 ATS on the season. Louisiana Tech knew they would be playing in the postseason before Thanksgiving having finished the year at 8-4, 6-1 in the WAC and will be looking for their eighth straight victory. The Bulldogs ran up the score in their last game shutting out New Mexico State 44-0 and covered the spread as 23-point favorites in football odds to finish the season with an outstanding mark of 10-2 ATS. Despite the success Louisiana Tech had this year, bowl game predictions favor TCU -10 to win in San Diego while the total has been listed at 55.5.
Perhaps one of the most high scoring games of the postseason will be when the Arizona State Sun Devils take on the Boise State Broncos in the MAACO Las Vegas Bowl on December 22nd. ASU started the season well enough but have lost four straight games to end the year with a 6-6 record going 4-5 in the Pac-12 Conference which caused ASU head coach Dennis Erickson to lose his job. The Sun Devils last played on November 25th and fell 38-47 to the California Golden Bears as 6-point favorites to go 4-7 against the spread for the year. Boise State would much rather be playing in a BCS match-up having finished the year as the #7 team in country with an 11-1 record and going 6-1 in the Mountain West conference. The Broncos are entering the match-up having won three straight games after defeating New Mexico 45-0 on December 3rd. Boise State shut-out the Lobos but couldn't cover the spread as 47.5-point favorites to finish the year a dismal 4-8 ATS. Vegas bowl game predictions have the Broncos 14-point favorites over Arizona State with a total of 66.
