A total purse of $5,000,000 USD will be up for grabs at Thousand Oaks with Graeme McDowell as the defending champion. Vegas and online sportsbooks have listed Tiger Woods at 11/4 as the golf betting favorite for this week's tournament that can be seen live on the Golf Channel and NBC followed by Webb Simpson who is listed at 9/1. Rounding out the top-5 choices to win this week at the Sherwood Country Club are Nick Watney at 11/1, Hunter Mahan at 12/1 and Jason Day at 14/1. Woods will take the course on Thursday coming off a win for the American's at the Presidents Cup in Australia but has not been able to win or break into the top three for that matter of a PGA Tour event this season. Tiger has played in 9-events this year and has made 7-cuts but his best Tour finish thus far was taking 4th at the Masters. Woods is currently 132nd in FedExCup standings with 2-top ten and 3-top 25 finishes but coming off an impressive showing at the Presidents Cup, bookmakers have listed the California native as the 11/4 golf betting favorite in Chevron World Challenge odds to win. Webb Simpson is the second choice to win at Thousand Oaks paying out 9/1 as the 26-year old is also coming off an impressive outing in Australia to match his win at the Wyndham Championships and P1 at the Deutsche Bank Championship. Simpson has been playing well this year making 23-cuts out of 26-tournaments played with a scoring average of 69.16 and hitting 69.84% of greens in regulation. The North Carolina native has been a consistent player to wager on this season having 12-top ten and 21-top twenty-five placements to go along with his two wins and three second place showings. Simpson has earned 2,745 FedExCup points and currently sits in second place of the money leader standings earning $6,347,353 heading into this week's tournament. Nick Watney is the third golf betting favorite at 11/1 in 2011 Chevron World Challenge odds having played well in Australia and winning the WGC Cadillac Championships and the AT&T National. Watney will also be a home town favorite having made 19-cuts out of 22-events played this season to currently sit in 9th place on the FedExCup standings with 1,420-points. The Sacramento native has maintained a 69.57-scoring average this year and has been a beast off the tee driving the ball an average of 301.9-yards. Watney has finished twice in the top spot with 1-second place showing, 10-top ten and 16-top twenty five finishes. Hunter Mahan will be yet another Californian playing in his backyard and is a tempting 12/1 in odds to win the Chevron World Challenge but has yet to win a PGA tournament this year having 2-second place finishes at the AT&T Pro-AM and the TOUR Championship.
