The Texas Rangers had two chances to win their first World Series in franchise history but instead were forced into a Game 7 tonight when they face the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night. 2011 World Series predictions in Vegas and at online sportsbooks have listed St. Louis as -140 favorites in MLB betting for Game 7 vs Texas +130 while the over/under total has been posted at 8 UNDER -115 for Friday's game that can be seen live on FOX. The run line also has the Cardinals as -1.5 (+150) favorites while the Rangers are listed as +1.5 (-170) underdogs for the road win at Busch Stadium in Missouri.
The scheduled starting pitchers for the deciding Game 7 have lefthander Matt Harrison throwing the first pitch for the Rangers vs righthander Chris Carpenter for the Cardinals. Harrison has gone 15-10 for the season with a 3.51-ERA while Carpenter will take the mound with a 14-9 mark on the year with a 3.43-ERA. Harrison which included a 3-2 win in Game 1. Harrison couldn't get the job done in Game 3 getting tagged for 6-runs in a 7-16 loss for Texas earning a 7.36-ERA while Carpenter held on for a 3-2 win in Game 1 of the series and earned a 2.77-ERA. The Rangers could almost taste victory on Thursday night having the Cardinals down to their last strike twice but instead watched in agony as St. Louis pulled off a stunning comeback that rivaled some of the best moments in baseball history.
With the game tied at 9-9 in the tenth inning, David Freese hit a leadoff home run in the bottom of the eleventh inning off Rangers closer Neftali Feliz to give the Cardinals a win for the ages. Freese's homerun was only the third time in baseball history that a team was able to win a game being one out from calling it a season while forcing the first Game 7 since 2002. With the history making comeback, 2011 World Series predictions in Vegas heavily favor St. Louis to win the championship tonight since the home team has won the last eight Game 7's since 1982. Baseball betting trends are also in favor of St. Louis having gone 6-4 when playing on Friday compared to the 5-5 mark held by the Rangers while the Cardinals have gone 14-5 when playing at Busch Stadium. That being said, Texas does have positive trends in their favor going a perfect 10-0 after a loss and 11-5 when playing on the road.
