![]() A Super Bowl favorite in 2010 NFL predictions and an unknown commodity will open the season on Sunday as the new look Philadelphia Eagles will host the Green Bay Packers. Kick-off is scheduled at 4:20pm EST and the NFL week 1 game can be seen on FOX television. Online sportsbooks have opened with Green Bay as a 3-point favorite in NFL football odds with an over/under total of 47.5. Green Bay is loaded on offense with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who is at an elite Pro Bowl level. Defense and the kicking game are the concerns for Packer fans. While the defense is improved it was lit up in a 51-45 playoff loss at Arizona that exposed all weaknesses. “Defensively we just dropped the ball,” said cornerback Charles Woodson, who was NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2009. “We don’t want to go into this season thinking we have an offense that can put up points so we can just go out there and whatever happens, happens. We won’t go out there like that.” The Eagles did a major roster makeover after losing badly in the playoffs last year at Dallas. Kevin Kolb takes over at quarterback heading into NFL betting odds for week 1 since longtime star Donovan McNabb is now in Washington. Kolb is far more of a finesse player than the strong armed McNabb. NFL predictions are expecting Michael Vick to spot Kolb on third and short situations to add the element of the run. Kolb struggled in the preseason but was not concerned looking forward to NFL week 1. “It doesn’t hurt me at all,” said Kolb. “I’m just looking forward to saving them (TD passes) all for the season.” Philadelphia has dominated this head to head series with a mark of 12-4 against the spread in NFL football odds vs the Packers. The two teams have gone UNDER the total in 6 out of their last 7 match-ups. Green Bay has covered 4 out of their last 5 as favorites while Philadelphia has failed to cover 4 out of their last 5 games as an underdog. |
