![]() Two old rivals from the AFC East will open the season as the Buffalo Bills host the Miami Dolphins on Sunday with kick-off schedule for 1:05pm EST for the game that can be seen on CBS television. Online sportsbooks have opened with Miami as a 3-point favorite in NFL week 1 predictions with an over/under betting total of 39. The Miami Dolphins enter the 2010 season with Super Bowl aspirations but their offensive struggles in the preseason remain a cloud hovering over those dreams. In the preseason finale at Dallas, the starters got more action that was expected against reserves from the Dallas defense and yet were ineffective in a 27-25 loss but did cover the spread as 3-point underdogs in NFL odds. Miami coach Tony Sparano found positives, however, in the ugly performance. “I felt like at least we were able to get some things going offensively,” said Sparano. Sparano was not pleased with a 16-6 loss to Atlanta as -1.5 favorites in NFL betting odds for the previous exhibition game so perhaps he was grading on a curve. Wide receiver Brandon Marshall was acquired by Miami from Denver to give spark to the offense and give second year starting quarterback Chad Henne a vital weapon. Henne went 7-6 as a starter last year when Chad Pennington was lost to injury and is improvement as the season wore on made him the permanent starter. The Bills will play their first game for head coach Chan Gailey. Quarterback Trent Edwards was sharp in preseason and Gailey has brought a sense of direction and discipline. Buffalo has covered the spread in NFL predictions for 7 out of their last 10 head to head meetings in this series. The series has gone over the betting total in 3 out of the last 5 match-ups. The Bills have covered 4 out of their last 10 games against the spread in NFL odds as underdogs while the Dolphins have covered just 3 out of their last 10 as favorites. |
