![]() The Florida Gators are loaded with young talent and eager to prove that they can maintain the same level of college football betting excellence without legendary quarterback Tim Tebow that they did with him during the past 4 years that included 2 national championships. Florida will open with 11 new starters on Saturday as they host the Miami-OH Redhawks on Saturday. Kick-off on ESPN is set for 12:05pm EST and online sportsbooks have opened with Florida as a 38-point favorite in Vegas odds for week 1 with an over/under betting total of 54. Miami last won the national title in 2007 and that team also had plenty of new starters and questions. Head coach Urban Meyer has consistently hauled in top 5 recruiting classes which eases the concerns of sports betting handicappers wondering if the program can remain at an elite level in college football odds. “I think we’ve got better answers than we had in 2007,” said Meyer. “There’s a lot of questions. But you’re returning a lot of guys you’re anxious to see play.” Junior quarterback John Brantley takes over for Tebow as the starting QB after a 3 year apprenticeship. “There’s always those doubters out there, but that’s what keeps a chip on our shoulders and that’s what kept us hungry this offseason," said Brantley this week. "People who might doubt our defense or our receivers, that’s just going to make us play better on Saturdays." Florida has lost just 7 out of their last 18 games against the spread in Vegas odds as college football betting favorites of more than 8 points. The Gators have gotten the money in 2 out of their last 3 games against the Mid American Conference. Miami has covered 12 out of their last 20 as dogs of more than 8 points but has failed to cover 3 out of their last 4 against the Southeastern Conference. |
