![]() Quality Road leads a field of seven 4-year old horses that will run on Saturday in the Grade I Woodward Stakes in Saratoga betting. Post time is scheduled for 5:48pm EST and online racebooks have opened with Quality Road as a prohibitive 1/4 betting favorites to win the one mile and 1/8 event that is worth $750,000. 2009 Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird will take part in this event. Quality Road will start from 3rd position with John Velazquez aboard for trainer Todd Pletcher. Quality Road is coming off an upset loss by a head to Blame four weeks ago in the Whitney Handicap horse betting odds. “We were half a head short of being unbeaten this year,” said Pletcher of Quality Road. “Every race is paramount; They’re all important. If you lose, you regroup and try again, to regain his confidence, to regain our confidence.” Quality Road has won his first three horse betting starts of 2010 before the setback. Mine That Bird is now trained by Hall of Famer D. Wayne Lucas and has a new jockey with Rajiv Maragh, who replaced Calvin Borel. Mine That Bird has not won in his last 7 starts that followed his miracle 50/1 victory in the Run for the Roses and finished 5th in the Whitney. “I thought he got totally out of touch with the race,” said Lucas. “Frankly, he got so far back. It think it was a conditioning experience.” Mine That Bird will start in position 2 and opened at online racebooks at 10/1 in horse betting odds. Convocation starts on the inside and opened at 6/1 with jockey Javier Castellano. Arcodoro starts in position 4 with jockey David Cohen and opened at 30/1. Kent Desormeaux will mount Indian Dance in slot 5 at 20/1. In gate 6 will be 15/1 shot Tranquil Manner with Alan Garcia aboard and Mythical Power will start in slot 7 at 12/1 with jockey Martin Garcia. |
