![]() The PGA Playoffs begin this weekend with 2010 Barclays Odds at Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, New Jersey. A whopping 2,500 FedExCup points are on the line and the action can be seen on the Golf Channel and CBS. Online sportsbooks opened with Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods as 11-1 golf betting favorites with Rory McIlroy at 12-1, Steve Stricker at 14-1. And then Padraig Harrington and Dustin Johnson were next at 25-1. Woods just wrapped up and finalized his divorce and has admitted that golf is not his top priority right now as he is focusing on helping his children through this major life transition of the family separating. Somehow, Woods still remains atop the Official World Golf Ranking just slightly ahead of the slumping Mickelson, with the injured Lee Westwood and Stricker next. Woods has made the cut in 8 out of 9 events and finished 4th in both The Masters and the US Open. He has 2 top 10 finishes and has had to withdraw from one event due to injury while totally imploding at the WGC Firestone event in the final round earlier this month. Mickelson was the winner at The Masters for his only tour victory this year. He has made the cut in 15 out of 16 events and has 10 top 10 finishes. He was also 2nd in the Wells Fargo this year, 4th in the US Open, and 5th in The Memorial. McIlroy was 7th in the Official World Golf ranking and was the winner of the Wells Fargo Championship with 3rd place finishes in the British Open and PGA Championship. He has made the cut in 20 out of 25 events. Stricker has made the cut in 15 out of 15 events with wins in the Northern Trust Classic and John Deere Classic with a 3rd place finish in the Sony Open. Johnson is ranked 24th in the Official World Golf ranking and it will be interesting to see how he reacts in this playoff after his blowing the PGA Championship due to a misunderstanding about bunker and sand trap rules. |
