![]() The second weekend of action in English Premier League odds will conclude with an ESPN2 match-up between Manchester City and Liverpool. Kick-off is set for 3:00pm EST (20:00) and online bookmakers have Manchester City +130 favorites in soccer betting odds vs Liverpool +210 with a draw or tie returning +220. Manchester City played to a scoreless draw in their Premier League opener against Tottenham Hotspur last week but the big story continues to be the massive turnover on their roster. Stephen Ireland was the latest to go as Man City continues to spend the big bucks in order to try and compete with Manchester United. Bookmakers also favor Manchester City PK (-150) in point spread lines vs Liverpool PK (+115). “I did not feel wanted at Manchester City,” said Ireland. Ireland believes he was short changed by manager Roberto Mancini as James Milner reported to City to add to an already impressive roster that is considered by most to be world class. Liverpool is also coming off a draw in their opener as they finished 1-1 against Arsenal. Liverpool star Joe Cole will not be in action after being dismissed from action last week but is still confident in his team’s chances. “I think we’ll do a good job,” said Cole. “We are ready, we are getting stronger. We are full of confidence after holding Arsenal to a draw.” Manchester City has the most expensive roster in the EPL and Mancini will have a huge challenge balancing the agendas and egos. Two of the biggest names are Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli, who was brought in from Italian champion Inter. Tevez is thrilled at the acquisition of the 20-year old Balotelli. “Balotelli is a very important player for us,” said Tevez. “He comes from a big club like Inter and knows what his responsibilities are. With him we have another big talent in our ranks.” |
