![]() The 2010 Boston College Golden Eagles do not get a lot of respect as a national power in college football predictions but should be in the thick of the Atlantic Coast Conference race as usual and finish in a bowl game. Last year in head coach Frank Spaziani’s rookie season on the job the Eagles finished a respectable 8-5 straight up and 6-6 against the college football betting spread with an Emerald Bowl loss to the USC Trojans. Online sportsbooks have the 2010 Boston College Golden Eagles at 120-1 to win the Championship in 2011 BCS odds, 9-1 to win the ACC conference championship and an over/under regular season win total of 7.5 OVER (-130). Boston College will return a good amount of starters with 8 on offense and 6 on defense led by sophomore quarterback Dave Shinskie, who threw for 2,049 yards and a 15/15 TD/INT ratio last year. Just as important in terms of handicapping college football odds, is the return of junior running back Montel Harris, who was 2nd Team All ACC last year with 1554 yards rushing and 14 touchdowns. The defense allowed less than 20 points per game last year and is led by first team freshman All American linebacker Luke Kuechly, who had a whopping 158 tackles in 2009 to lead the team going away. The schedule sets up favorable for the Eagles as they will host Weber State, Kent State, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, Maryland, Clemson and Virginia with road games at NC State, Florida State, Wake Forest, Duke and Syracuse. Boston College plays in the weaker Atlantic Division with Florida State, Clemson, Maryland, Wake Forest and NC State so the Eagles should have a solid shot to contend for the title in BCS odds. FSU is the favorite at online sportsbooks to win the Atlantic and Clemson merits consideration as well as the division winner last year. |
