Saratoga Betting: Sword Dancer

Saratoga betting fans will have a phenomenal Grade 1 race to handicap on Saturday with odds to win the Sword Dancer Invitational. Grand Couturier will make history by entering the Sword Dancer for the fifth consecutive time and opened as an 8-1 choice at online racebooks. Grand Couturier finished 3rd as a 3-year old in 2006, won the event in both 2007 and 2008, and finished 5th last year as the horse betting favorite. Sword Dancer odds for the Invitational from Saratoga will be a mile and a half marathon that is run on turf. The field features a lot of parity and big name jockeys. Trainer Robert Ribaudo is pleased with Grand Couturier’s condition.

“He’s doing good,” said Ribaudo. “This is where he belongs. It’s amazing just to be in the condition that he is now, especially with the way the game is today with horses having limited careers.” Alan Garcia will get the mount aboard Grand Couturier in 2010 Sword Dancer odds. Expansion opened as the favorite in Saratoga betting for the Sword Dancer at 3-1 and will be mounted by Javier Castellano. Marsh Side opened at online racebooks as a 4-1 favorite with jockey Corey Nakatani.

Three horses opened as 6-1 choices with Marlang, Al Khali and Telling. Marlang will be mounted by John Velazquez, Al Khali gets jockey Kent Desormeaux and Telling will be ridden by Garrett Gomez. Online racebooks opened with a pair of 10-1 horse betting favorites in Sword Dancer odds, ridden by Kentucky Derby winning jockey Calvin Borel and Grassy, who will be mounted by Ramon Dominguez. Rajiv Maragh will mount 20-1 longshot Romp while Interpatation will be ridden by Jose Lezcano as another 20-1 choice.
