2010 Denver Broncos: Vegas NFL Predictions, Odds and Picks

2010 Denver Broncos

The 2010 Denver Broncos experiment in hiring 32-year old Josh McDaniels as head coach seemed like a stroke of genius last year when they began the season with a 6-0 start in NFL odds and a win against his old New England Patriot team that he was the offensive coordinator for. The Broncos NFL schedule imploded from that point on and finished 8-8 with plenty of conflicts between coach and key players including in the ill-fated regular season finale that was a must win game to make the playoffs. McDaniels and the Broncos have opened at online sportsbooks as a 50-1 choice in Vegas NFL predictions to win the Super Bowl with an over/under regular season win total of 7.5 UNDER (-130).

Top receiver Brandon Marshall was traded to Miami where defensive coordinator Mike Nolan also departed for after just one year in Denver. Tight End Tony Scheffler was sent to Denver. But the big off season news in NFL betting was the drafting of Tim Tebow in NFL picks during the first round. Tebow was not considered first round materiel by scouts but Denver wanted him because of his character and athleticism. He is currently slated to back up Kyle Orton, who arrived in Denver last year after McDaniels clashed with quarterback Jay Cutler, who was traded to Chicago.

The Broncos ended up in the middle of the pack for all key offensive categories while ranking 7th for total defense, which makes Nolan’s departure a concern. McDaniels will try to build a better power running game with Knowshon Moreno, who struggled in the 2nd half of the season after a solid start. The Broncos have traded their top two offensive players in Cutler and Marshall so McDaniels could make his point as boss and try and build them on the New England model. There are plenty of skeptics as to if this is the formula for success.
