![]() The 2010 Indianapolis Colts may have limped in to the Super Bowl last February when they fell short against the New Orleans Saints and they may be another year older and two years removed from the Tony Dungy era but that is not enough to prevent them from being one of the top choices at online sportsbooks in 2011 Super Bowl odds this season. Indianapolis opened as 8-1 NFL betting favorites in odds to win the Super Bowl and has an over/under regular season win total of 10.5 OVER (-145) in NFL predictions. The Colts won their first 14 games in 2009 before head coach Jim Caldwell tanked 15th game to forgo a shot at an undefeated season. The Colts were never quite the same after that and had to rally to beat the New York Jets in the AFC championship game. The 9th ranked offense in NFL odds will have a new coordinator as Clyde Christensen will take over for the semi retired Tom Moore. But the most important component of the offense returns as quarterback Peyton Manning is coming off a stellar 2009 season in which he threw for 4500 yards and a 33/16 TD/INT ratio. Manning’s value goes far beyond numbers, however, as he is also the classy team leader and consummate professional. Manning won his 4th NFL MVP Award and made his 10th Pro Bowl. The Colts must address a ground attack that was the worst in NFL betting odds but the receiver corps is deep, talented, and one of the best. Wideout Reggie Wayne and tight end Dallas Clark both had over 1,000 yards receiving. The defense was a bend but don’t break unit that finished 18th in yards but 8th in points. The pass rush abilities of Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis are key assets. Manning is the 4-time MVP for a reason and is why the Colts cannot be written off, despite their other problems. |
