![]() With a passionate fan base, rich history, and plenty of home grown talent to recruit, the 2010 Georgia Bulldogs would seem to have everything needed to become a national power in college football odds. Georgia has not played for the Southeastern Conference title since 2005 when they clobbered LSU, however, and finished unranked last year after finishing 8-5 straight up and 5-7 against the spread in college football picks to conclude their fifth season out of the last six in which they did not produce a profit. Online sportsbooks have the 2010 Bulldogs as 40-1 longshots in BCS odds to win the championship with a regular season win total at 8.5 OVER (-120) but this is a team that definitely has a shot at the SEC title. Head coach Mark Richt has gone 90-27 at UGA as he enters his 10th season at the helm. After being named the SEC Coach of the Year in 2002 and 2005 he finds himself fading when compared to Urban Meyer of Florida and Nick Saban of Alabama. But before anyone writes Richt or Georgia off keep in mind that they are often their most dangerous when overlooked. Georgia will return 10 starters on offense this year with redshirt freshman quarterback Aaron Murray the lone newcomer as the likely starter in replacement of the departed Joe Cox. The offensive line is one of the best and should help make the transition effective. There is a new defensive coordinator as Todd Grantham arrives from the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys as Willie Martinez was fired after the unit allowed 26 points per game last year and was consistently regressing. Georgia has a very favorable schedule with their toughest road games at South Carolina and at Auburn with home games against Arkansas and Tennessee and without having to play Alabama or LSU. Their toughest game should be October 30 in Jacksonville against rebuilding Florida. The schedule, lower expectations, and returning talent all add up to make UGA a potential strong sleeper in 2010. |
