2010 New York Giants: Predictions, NFL Odds and Picks

2010 New York Giants Odds

The New York Giants looked like a team that was all future in NFL predictions after they stunned the New England Patriots and the entire football gambling world with their epic Super Bowl upset win over the undefeated Patriots in February of 2008. Since that time, however, what was considered to be an up and coming dynasty has been an inconsistent team that has frustrated handicappers with what is perceived to be their underachieving ways. Online sportsbooks have the 2010 New York Giants 25-1 longshots in NFL picks to win the 2011 Super Bowl with an over/under regular season total set at 8.5 OVER (-130). The Giants stumbled to an 8-8 mark last year while getting the cash in NFL odds for just 6 of their games.

Big Blue went under the total in NFL predictions just 4 times as they ranked 8th in the NFL for scoring but 30th in the league for points allowed. What was part of the frustration of last year was the fact that New York had a fast start with wins in their first 5 games. A loss at eventual Super Bowl champion New Orleans left permanent damage, however, as the Giants never recovered. Head coach Tom Coughlin was nearly fired after the 2006 Giants NFL schedule for his stubborn ways and inability to get along with and relate to players. He recovered to be a world champion a year later but now finds himself again on the hot seat.

Quarterback Eli Manning has regressed as more of the offense has relied on his passing and less on balance. Manning struggled in the red zone as the Giants broke in new receivers. New York’s ground attack slumped to 17th in NFL betting odds. Perry Fewel has been hired to coordinate the defense back to a championship level. The unit is capable of more but there is concern about the linebacker unit. The Giants may prove to be a potentially good value, at least early on, at online sportsbooks as last year did a lot to turn off the gambling public. If Manning can get help from the ground attack and defense the Giants could have a Super Season in 2010.
