![]() Two of the most famous and revered tracks in horse racing will begin their summer meets with Grade 1 races on Saturday. Saratoga will feature the Grade 1 Coaching Club American Oaks, which is 10 furlongs and worth $300,000 while Del Mar will feature Eddie Read Stakes odds, which is a mile and an eighteenth in length and worth $300,000. The Coaching Club American Oaks is for 3-year old fillies and will feature the top 3 horse betting finishers of the Grade 1 Mother Goose Stakes including Todd Pletcher trained winning horse Devil May Care, who will be mounted by one of the best jockeys anywhere with John Velasquez. Online racebooks opened with Devil May Care as a 6-5 horse betting favorite. The filly has won 4 out of 7 career starts with earnings of over half a million dollars. Pletcher says the horse is ready to run. “She came out of the race (Mother Goose) very well and has trained well since, as she always does,” said Pletcher. “She’s fit, happy, and we hope to run another good race.” Victor’s Cry, Acclamation, The Usual QT, Crowded Horse, Loup Breton, Hyades, and Enriched make for an outstanding and highly competitive field for the turf of Del Mar in Eddie Read Stakes odds. Victor’s Cry will have new found respect from horse betting gamblers after winning the Shoemaker Mile as a 21-1 longshot on May 31st. Corey Nakatani will get the mount again after winning the Shoemaker. “I’ve always felt this horse had a ton of potential,” said trainer Eoin Harty. The Usual QT has won big races such as the Oak Tree Derby, Hollywood Derby, and Sir Beaufort Stakes and will be the probable favorite. Trainer James Cassidy is confident for Saturday. “The horse is doing very well and continues to be very consistent,” said Cassidy. I expect him to be off the pace and come running at the end, which is his style.” The Usual QT has 7 wins and 4 places in 14 career starts with over $800,000 in earnings. |
