![]() Donovan McNabb has departed from the 2010 Philadelphia Eagles football squad and left behind a mixed legacy of playoff seasons and ultimate Super Bowl failures. With the departure of McNabb, the Eagles will turn the page to a new era as an 20-1 choice in Vegas NFL predictions at online sportsbooks to win the 2011 Super Bowl with an over/under win total of 8.5 UNDER (-130). Philadelphia finished as an 11-5 wild card team that was manhandled at Dallas in the playoffs. Philly did manage a profit last year at 9-7 against the spread in NFL odds while going over the total in 10 games. The playoff debacle was taken as a sign by management and coach Andy Reid to take their best NFL picks, blow up the roster and start over. While the Eagles will not admit to the “R-Word” (rebuilding) they appear to be doing just that. 4-year man Kevin Kolb will take over at quarterback and has limited experience. He will have a highly talented and explosive receiver corps to throw to with pro bowl wideout DeSean Jackson and speedy Jeremy Maclin. Running back LeSean McCoy will also help keep the heat off Kolb with his rushing ability as he set a club record for yards by a rookie last year. Fullback Leonard Weaver was an All Pro last year. Jackson is also an ace punt returner that ran 2 back for TD’s last year. Looking at 2010 NFL odds, the defense is the big concern for the Eagles. The unit ranked 19th in the NFL for points allowed last year and will be retooling with many younger players. Linebacker looks particularly weak and there are few standouts beyond Asante Samuel, who had 9 interceptions last year. Reid has been a proven commodity as coach in his 11 years at Philadelphia and is the main reason as to why the Eagles are not longer shots at online sportsbooks. Kolb will be under intense pressure and how he handles himself will be the key to the 2010 season. |
