2010 AFC South Odds: Colts and Texans Favored in NFL Picks

2010 AFC South Odds

The Indianapolis Colts remind everyone of the old Timex watch commercials as they “take a licking and keep on ticking” despite their age and questionable defense. Indianapolis has opened as a -350 favorite in NFL picks at online sportsbooks to win the division in 2010 AFC South odds with the Houston Texans +300 and Tennessee Titans +525 as the second NFL betting favorites. Sportsbook have made the Jacksonville Jaguars a +2250 longshot to win the AFC south in 2010. Indianapolis flirted with an undefeated season last year as they won their first 14 games before coach Jim Caldwell tanked the 15th game in a loss to the New York Jets.

The Colts did rebound to make the Super Bowl but were outclassed 17-31 by the New Orleans Saints. The defense ranked 18th in NFL picks but quarterback Peyton Manning has proven to be enough to keep the Colts in contention each year. Houston continually is touted as the next up and coming team and yet they fall a little short of the playoffs each year. Houston finished 9-7 last year in NFL odds and was done in by a 5-7 start. Gary Kubiak is in a very hot seat as coach and must improve a ground attack that was feeble and 30th in the NFL. Quarterback Matt Schaub has shown the ability to become in the elite category.

Tennessee was the top seed of the AFC in 2008 but stumbled out of the gate last year with a 0-6 start. Owner Bud Adams demanded Vince Young be named the starting quarterback after that debacle and the Titans rallied to finish 8-8 and with Young firmly ensconced over center as the signal caller. The defense was one of the worst in the NFL and another cause for the collapse from the top perch in the conference. Tennessee may be a good NFL betting value if they can shore up the defense.
