Delaware Handicap Odds

Horse betting fans will turn their attention on Saturday toward Delaware Park for the running of the $750,000 Grade 2 Delaware Handicap. The biggest race of the weekend will have three main contenders in a lineup of 6 fillies and mares. The winning horse will get an automatic Breeders Cup bid for this fall in Churchill Downs. The race is a mile and a quarter in length. Milwaukee Appeal, along with Funny Moon and Life at Ten are the favorites in Delaware Handicap odds. Milwaukee Appeal has had some very close calls in other big races. The 4-year old filly has never won in 3 attempts on dirt.

Milwaukee Appeal finished 2nd in the dirt in the Grade 1 Alabama at Saratoga last summer. Funny Moon is another 4-year old and has won this year at Belmont Park in the Grade 2 Shuvee. Life at Ten has the hot hand with 5 consecutive horse betting wins heading into this weekend. Kentucky Derby winning trainer Todd Pletcher is the trainer, who is seeking his fourth Delaware Handicap win of his career. Life at Ten has a Grade 1 win in the Ogden Phipps Handicap at Belmont earlier this year. Miss Singsix, Miss Match, and Million Seller will round out the field.

Life at Ten is a 5-year old mare will be the chalk for this one. While she got off to a slow start on the synthetic surfaces of California tracks she has more than found her stride on the dirt of the east. “Some of her races were a bit frustrating, but I think in retrospect we probably ran a few too many times on synthetic surfaces, which did not bring out her best,” said Pletcher. “Since we have been able to keep her at a nice series of longer races, she has really developed into what we were hoping she would be.”
