UFC 116 odds will feature what is being billed by many as a “dream matchup” between Brock Lesnar vs Shane Carwin as the Americans will decide the world unification heavyweight championship from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night. Lesnar is the defending champion and a -140 favorite in UFC 116 betting predictions at online sportsbooks while Carwin is the interim champion and a +110 underdog. This clash of titans at UFC 116 is perhaps the biggest and most anticipated bout in the history of mixed martial arts and will take place in Vegas on Saturday night.
If there is some confusion between the two title designations it has much to do with a serious illness that Lesnar suffered last year that has kept him out of action for the past 12 months. Shortly after winning the heavyweight championship over Frank Mir in UFC odds last July, Lesnar suffered from both mono and a serious intestinal disorder. Lesnar made world headlines when he bashed Canada’s health care system and called it “third world” while stating that he was a Republican that was vehemently opposed to US President Barrack Obama’s health care legislation. He said the American health care system saved his life. He claims to be at a full 100% for the bout.
While Lesnar was out Carwin filled in and scored a knockout win over Frank Mir to win the “interim” heavyweight title on March 27th of this year. Carwin has never lost in UFC odds for the 12 previous bouts with 7 wins by knockout and 5 by submission. Carwin has been devastating as all 12 of his opponents were jettisoned in the first round of action. Lesnar has a career record of 4-1 with 3 consecutive wins heading into this bout. He has 2 wins by knockout, 1 by submission, 1 by decision, and 1 loss by submission. It will be a matchup of Lesnar’s brutal bulk and powerful strength against the canny skill and intensity of Carwin to make for a match-up of the ages. |
