Homeboykris would be a stunning upset for this year in 2010 Kentucky Derby betting odds as he opened as a 60-1 longshot at online sportsbooks to win this year’s Run for the Roses but has gained more value and is now at 35-1. So far this year as a three year old Homeboykris has two starts with one place and total earnings of $14,000. Last year as a two year old Homeboykris had four starts with two wins and total earnings of $260,000. It is that performance as a two year old that has Homeboykris listed as a bona fide Kentucky Derby contender. Homeboykris is owned by Lazzinnaro, Bulger, Mandato, Diamond Pride LLC, Tabraue, and Sallusto and is trained by Richard Dutrow. The gelding is by Roman Ruler and One Last Salute while Julien Laparoux is tentatively slated to get the mount in the 2010 Kentucky Derby. Homeboykris last ran on February 27 at Gulfstream in an allowance race and finished in second behind Radiohead, who was the prohibitive favorite. Homeboykris was the second choice in that race. On January 23, also at Gulfstream, Homeboykris finished fifth in the Grade 3 Holy Bull Stakes as Winslow Homer took the wire. A race to take a look at with Homeboykris was on October 10 of last year when he ran against fellow Kentucky Derby contenders Discreetly Mine, Super Saver, and Dublin to win the grade 1 Champagne Stakes at Belmont Park. Dutrow is best known for his fine work as trainer of 2008 Kentucky Derby winner Big Brown. Dutrow is not shy and was very vocal during Big Brown’s run to the Triple Crown, which fell short in the final race in the Belmont Stakes. Dutrow guaranteed victory before that race despite Big Brown suffering from an injury and the horse had to be pulled short of the finish line. Wager on Homeboykris at 35-1 in Kentucky Derby odds as a longshot for the 136th Running of the Roses with a 10% deposit bonus. |
