UFC Live Odds - Vera vs Jones

UFC makes its debut on the Versus television network on Sunday night with UFC Live betting featuring Brandon Vera vs. Jon Jones. It should be an entertaining battle between the two light heavyweights. Jones is a -260 favorite in UFC odds at online sportsbooks against Vera +200. It will be the first time that a live UFC event will air on a national sports cable network. It should also be noted that DirecTV and Versus finally worked out their troubles so Versus can be seen on channel 603 in the United States.

Outside of the United States the fight card can be seen on One HD in Australia, Rogers Sports Net in Canada, RTL9 in France, DSF in Germany, Combate in Brazil, OSN in the Middle East, Balls in the Philippines and ESPN UK in the UK. Jones has only lost once in UFC betting odds for his career and many believe it was not really a loss since he was disqualified in the finale of the Ultimate Fighter season 10 against Matt Hamill. Jones was pounding away at Hamill and would have won but was disqualified for downward elbow strikes.

Vera comes into the bout trying to get his career turned around. He started with four straight wins in the UFC but his head got big and he considered offers from EliteXC and Pride Fighting Championships. He took the safe route and signed an extension with the UFC but has never been the same. He has gone 3-3 since winning his first four bouts. Vera has a chance to get his career back on track with a victory over Jones. It may not be easy though. "I’m sure Stephan Bonnar really wanted to push me and whoop me up," Jones said, "I’m sure Matt Hamill wanted to push me and whoop me up, and I’m sure Jake O’Brien did too. But they weren’t able to do it. Every opponent I’ve faced wanted to win the fight and thought they had a way to win the fight, but they didn’t win."

There are three other bouts in UFC betting odds for the main card on Sunday. Junior dos Santos favored in UFC odds against Gabriel Gonzaga, Cheick Kongo a heavy favorite against Paul Buentello and James Irwin a slight pick against Alessio Sakara. There are seven preliminary bouts on the card. It will be Darren Elkins vs. Duane Ludwig, Mike Pierce vs. Julio Paulino, Jason Brilz vs. Eric Schafer Chase Gormley vs. Brendan Schaub, John Howard vs. Daniel Roberts, Eliot Marshall vs. Vladimir Matyushenko and Clay Guida vs. Shannon Gugerty.
