The overall top seed in the 2010 NCAA March madness basketball tournament is the Kansas Jayhawks and they are a 10-13 favorite to win the Midwest Region at online sportsbooks. While the Jayhawks have short college basketball odds, you can make a case that they are stuck in the most difficult region. The Jayhawks have the best team in the country though, so they should still find a way to get through this region. Kansas is led by Sherron Collins, Cole Aldrich, Xavier Henry and a lot of other talented players. While the Jayhawks have the best team in the country it will not be a cakewalk to the Final Four. The Midwest Region is simply loaded. The NCAA Tournament committee did a terrible job of seeding this year as Duke was given a soft region while Kansas has teams like Ohio State and Georgetown in their region. Ohio State is the second seed in NCAA March madness basketball brackets for this region and they easily could have been a #1 seed. The Buckeyes have Player of the Year, Evan Turner and a team capable of beating the Jayhawks. They are the 7-2 second choice in college basketball odds at online sportsbooks to win this region. Georgetown has the best big man in this region in Greg Monroe and two excellent guards in Chris Wright and Austin Freeman. The Hoyas are another team that could win this region. You could make a case that Ohio State and Georgetown would be favored to win the West or the South Regions, yet they are both in the Midwest along with Kansas. Georgetown is the 6-1 third choice in Midwest NCAA March madness basketball brackets. The depth of this region is also superb as the fourth seed is Maryland who has a superstar player in Greivis Vasquez. Michigan State is the fifth seed and they have head coach Tom Izzo and a talented guard in Kalin Lucas. Even Tennessee and Oklahoma State have shown they can beat the best teams in the country this season and they are both in this region. UNLV is the 8th seed while Northern Iowa is the 9th seed. The Panthers have a good team but they probably won’t beat Kansas. Georgia Tech is the 10th seed in basketball brackets and they probably won’t win more than a game. The 11th seed is San Diego State and Steve Fisher should not be underestimated. New Mexico State is going nowhere as the #12 seed but #13 seed Houston is coached by Tom Penders and he knows how to win in the tournament. Ohio, UC Santa Barbara and Lehigh should not win a game. |
