The Syracuse Orange are the top seed in 2010 West region bracket odds and the 7-4 favorite in March madness betting at online sportsbooks. The Orange were 28-4 on the season but they did lose their last two games and Arinze Onuaku hurt his right knee in the Big East Tournament and he may not be at full strength. It won’t matter in the first round as the Orange should handle Vermont but it might be a factor against the winner of Gonzaga and Syracuse in the second round. The Orange have the Big East Player of the Year in Wes Johnson though and a solid outside shooter in Andy Rautins so they should get to the Sweet Sixteen. The second seed in West region bracket odds is the Kansas State Wildcats. They were 26-7 this season and they are the 3-1 second choice to win the region in March madness betting. The Wildcats are led by guard Jacob Pullen who scored in double figures in every game this season. Kansas State is inexperienced though and that could be a concern. They should beat North Texas in the opening round but the second round game against BYU or Florida could be a problem. Pittsburgh is seeded third for the West region. They beat Syracuse this season so they are capable of winning the West. They are the third choice in college basketball odds to win the West at 8-1. Ashton Gibbs is their key player. The fourth seed in the West is Vanderbilt and they are 15-1 in West region bracket odds. The Commodores look ripe to beaten, perhaps in the first round. Butler as the #5 seed in this region gets more respect in college basketball odds as they are 10-1 to win the West. The Bulldogs are experienced and they have Gordon Hayward who averages 15.4 points per game. Butler comes into the NCAA Tournament having won 20 in a row. Xavier is the sixth seed while BYU is seeded seventh. The Cougars are getting some respect in March madness betting for this region as they are 9-1. They have a superstar scorer in Jimmer Fredette and BYU is second in the country in points per game. Gonzaga has experience and they are 18-1 as the 8th seed. They will have to get past 9th seeded Florida State in the first round. The Seminoles are 15-1. Florida is 40-1 and the 10th seed in West region bracket odds but they are too inconsistent to win four games in a row. Minnesota is 18-1 as the 11th seed and they are lucky to be in the tournament but they do have Tubby Smith as head coach. UTEP is 40-1 with some talent and shouldn’t totally be thrown out as the #12 seed. Murray State is 65-1 and could win a game but not the region while Oakland 150-1 and North Texas 250-1 have no real chance. |
