![]() The New York Yankees are solid MLB betting favorites to win in 2010 American League Championsip odds. The Yankees are the defending World Series champs and they look just as strong as they did a year ago. Online sportsbooks have New York as the 7-4 favorite to win the American League pennant. The only other teams with single-digit odds at to win in American League championship odds are the Boston Red Sox at 10-3 and the Los Angeles Angels at 9-1. The Yankees are considered the MLB betting favorites in the American League based on last season. New York was first in the league in runs scored and they were 11th in ERA. Their pitching numbers may actually be improved this season as they added Javier Vazquez to be their fourth starter. He was excellent last season for the Braves and he is the #4 starter with New York. The Yankees have CC Sabathia, A.J. Burnett and Andy Pettitte as their top three. The lineup is excellent as well and even though they lost Hideki Matsui they added a great player in Curtis Granderson and a solid hitter in Nick Johnson. The Yankees are simply loaded with powerful hitters like Alex Rodriguez and Mark Texeira plus they have the best closer in the history of the game in Mariano Rivera. New York is a deserving MLB betting favorite in 2010 American League championship odds. Boston is the second choice in American League odds but it is really a distant second. The Red Sox made some moves in the off-season but whether or not they are improved is in question. They added John Lackey and he definitely upgrades the rotation but they lost Jason Bay and that weakens them in run production. The White Sox and Angels are the 10-1 third choice but without Lackey in Los Angeles leading their rotation it seems a stretch to think they can win it all. There are six teams that could be considered darkhorses in 2010 American League championship odds. The Texas Rangers are listed at 13-1 while the Minnesota Twins are 17-2 with the Seattle Mariners 9-1, Tampa Bay Rays 10-1, Chicago White Sox 12-1 and the Detroit Tigers are 15-1 in 2010 American League championship odds. Texas is an interesting team if they get their young pitchers to survive a full season. Minnesota looked good until Joe Nathan got hurt but now their chances of winning are less with no closer. Seattle is the most improved team in the American League and has a one-two of Felix Hernandez and Cliff Lee that will be tough to match. Tampa Bay is still very talented but they play in the same division with New York while the Tigers and White Sox will battle Minnesota all year to see who comes out of the Central. |
