 So far in our World Cup odds previews, the betting favorite for Group A is Mexico and Argentina is the favorite in Group B action. Group C will feature two of the more popular teams in World Cup betting that haven’t done much in previous years in their quest to hoist the cup. England -275 is the favorite to win Group C followed by the United States at +400, Slovenia +1000 and Algeria +2500. England has always had a strong team but with early departures from EURO 2004 and the 2006 World Cup, this will probably be the last chance for superstars like David Beckham, Michael Owen and Steven Gerrard to win the title on foreign soil. The first test for England and head coach Fabio Capello will be against the USA on June 12 at 20:30 from the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg. Online sportsbooks have England -220 favorites in World Cup betting odds for their first round Group C match-up against the USA +500 with a draw paying +330 and a betting total of 2.5 UNDER -135. "We are very strong and we can play against all the best teams of the best countries in the world. I am very happy with these players, with this group and I have big confidence in the future,” Capello said. The United States will be making their sixth appearance in World Cup odds and will attempt to repeat their success in the 2002 finals by reaching the quarterfinals. The hopes of America will rest once again on the shoulders of Landon Donovan but he will more than likely be without the speedy forward Charlie Davies who is still recuperating from a fatal car accident back in October of 2009. The USA is also hoping that centre-back Oguchi Onyewu will be able to make the trip to South Africa after tearing a tendon in his knee during a qualifying match also in October of 2009 against Costa Rica. The other two teams, Slovenia and Algeria, are not expected to be much of a factor in Group C World Cup betting. The pair will face off in their first match on June 13th at 13:30 from the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
