Tiger Woods Apology Video and Press Conference

Did Tiger Really Apologize on Video

So the Tiger Woods apology came today… but did he really apologize or was it just a press conference statement? Isn’t everything that he read just a carefully wrote script that to me at times even seemed to be badly written? Did he actually flash one of those "Tiger" smiles of success when all was said and done? I think John Daly got it right when he said “Tiger--where is your wedding ring? Most Important I would think to prove?” in a post on Twitter. The Tiger Woods apology video is below so you can watch and make your own assumptions; but for a man that has seemed to handle this whole situation wrongly, he definitely hit into the rough again with the Woods apology statement that was read on Friday at the TPC Sawgrass clubhouse in Florida.

I have tried to stay neutral about this whole situation and have said numerous times that I don’t care about the stupid choices Tiger has made but now I am personally offended that Woods seems to think his problems are much greater than that of NBA basketball greats Kobe Bryant or Michael Jordan and that fortune or fame comes cheaply. First, let me remind everyone that Tiger is worth more money than most of us could ever fathom… and then some. Money is the root of all evil and if you think that his type of status and financial freedom doesn’t come with a price, then watch the Woods apology video below and realize how ignorant Tiger thinks we all are.

Does anyone wonder how Tiger is the most well known golfer in the world, has over 10 mistresses all over the world and the media or paparazzi knew nothing but more importantly reported nothing? The cameras have been following Tiger since his college days and has been married since 2004, so how this story just broke recently and only after his wife Elin Nordegren was reported to "find out"... is beyond me. “However, my behavior doesn’t make it right for the media to follow my two-and-a-half-year-old daughter to school and report the school’s location. They staked out my wife and they pursued my mom. Whatever my wrongdoings, for the sake of my family, please leave my wife and kids alone.” Boo freakedy hoo… sounds like another famous video that proclaims everyone should “Leave Britney Alone!” Does anyone notice how nobodies become famous, make millions or billions of dollars but according to the Woods apology press conference; family or more importantly questions about the incident are off-limits?

Does Tiger realize that celebrities are only who they think they are because of the media? When pictures of weddings or adopted children are sold for millions of dollars only because of societies insatiable need for entertainment gossip which feeds the need for marketing of an individual which involves well should I say it…. making a deal with the devil… then you are in a sand trap from hell and the Tiger Woods apology is no different. “I feel like I'm taking crazy pills! I invented the piano key necktie, I invented it!” Please don’t get me wrong either… I do feel horrible for the embarrassment this situation has caused the Woods family and like the transgressions of other great athletes before him; the Tiger Woods apology or admission of guilt will never take away from the numerous accomplishments and talent he has displayed on the course.

That being said, the Tiger Woods apology video is filled with more words regarding “Elin”, “behavior “and “people” over the more simple words like “sorry”, “wrong” or I even would have settled for “got caught” but you can watch and make your own call. You would think someone that would have the (golf) balls to quote Buddhism in his apology speech would have used other psychological words to convince us and more importantly his family, that he is truly sorry. To quote another one of my favorites who calls it like it is... "and that's all I have to say about that." Although Tiger is still not back on the tour, don't miss out on the 2010 Accenture match-play being played this weekend.
