![]() Racing fans around the world are getting ready for “The Great American Race” also known as the Daytona 500 that is set to start at 1:00pm EST and can be seen on FOX television. Since 1959, the racing world has converged on Daytona, Florida to watch the world’s best stock car drivers fly around the legendary track until they surpass 500 miles and the winner eventually drives into Victory Lane. 2009 Daytona 500 odds saw Matt Kenseth declared the winner with only 48 laps remaining due to rain so the 2010 Daytona 500 has been pushed back to 1:00pm EST to try and ensure that doesn’t happen this year. 2010 Daytona 500 odds to win at online sportsbooks have Tony Stewart +450 the betting favorite with Kyle Busch and Dale Earnhardt Jr +700 as the second and third choices. The three are also favored to finish in the top 3 with Stewart +150 followed by Busch and Earnhardt Jr +225. Stewart has always been dominate at Daytona and looks to continue this year, winning the DRIVE4COPD 300 on Saturday and being the favorite in 2010 Daytona 500 odds. “It’s cool when you win 15 times here in so many different things, but you come down here for one main goal, and that’s to win (in Daytona 500 odds),” Stewart said this week. “That’s what everybody’s shooting for. I don’t want it to take away from what we did today (because) winning at Daytona, period, is special. But, every time we win here, it just makes me that much hungrier to win on Sunday now.” Although Stewart is racing well, it is the start on the NASCAR season and the first race to build Sprint Cup points for the championship. Stewart maybe favored to win in Daytona 500 odds but Jimmie Johnson +250, Carl Edwards +500 and Mark Martin +550 are the betting favorites to win the 21010 Sprint Cup championship at online sportsbooks. Johnson defeated Kevin Harvick in the Daytona Duel race 1 earlier in the week while Kasey Kahne defeated Stewart in the second to set the stage for what should be an exciting Daytona 500 on FOX. Harvick +900 is a betting longshot along with Kahne +1500 in NASCAR odds to win. The starting lineup for the “Greatest American Race” will have Martin and Earnhardt Jr up front followed by Johnson, Kahne, Harvick and Stewart. Johnson +125, Martin +400 and Edwards +450 are also betting favorites to finish in the Top 3 of the 2010 Daytona 500 while Harvick +225 is a betting favorite along with Kahne +400. |
