The 2010 Winter Olympics begin on Friday, February 12th from Vancouver, Canada with the opening ceremonies and qualifying rounds of ski jumping. The Winter Olympics will run for over two weeks, concluding on Sunday, February 28th with the men’s ice hockey gold-medal game. Since it is the Winter Olympics and it is held in Vancouver, it makes sense that Canada would be among the favorites to win in overall medal odds. They are actually the second choice at 5-2 in 2010 WInter Olympic odds at online sportsbooks. The favorite in overall medal odds is actually Germany at 10/11. Right behind Germany and Canada in 2010 Winter Olympic odds is the United States at 7-2. The only other country with single-digit odds to take home the most medals is Norway at 7-1. There are some interesting longshots in Winter Olympic betting including Russia at 12-1 and Austria at 20-1. China is 35-1, Sweden is 40-1 and Switzerland is 50-1. Countries with very little chance and are longshots including Finland at 100-1, France and Italy at 150-1 and Holland at 500-1. Hockey is really not that popular a sport normally at online sportsbooks but when Winter Olympic odds are available... look out. Canada is the favorite to win the gold in men’s ice hockey odds at 11/10. Their main competition looks to be Russia at 21/10 with Sweden and the United States the darkhorses at 11-2 and 7-1 respectively. Sportsbooks are also offering 2010 Winter Olympic odds to win each of the hockey groups. Hockey may get much of the attention in the Winter Olympics betting but there are a lot of other sports that can be wagered on. Vegas sports odds will bring you the available 2010 Winter Olympic odds on Alpine Downhill Skiing, Speedskating, Figure Skating, Snowboarding, Curling and Bobsledding with multiple events in many of the sports. NBC is providing television coverage of the Winter Olympics with the opening ceremonies start time on Friday at 7:30pm EST. Some of the best action should start on Day 2 with the Men’s 1500 meter speed skating as Apolo Ohno will be looking to win. Figure skating is always popular in Winter Olympic odds so that is something to watch on both the men’s and women’s side. Shaun White is a popular figure and he will be the favorite in snowboarding on Day 6 of the Olympics. Lindsey Vonn is a favorite in the women’s downhill so that should be worth watching and don’t forget the men’s gold medal ice hockey game on the last day of the 2010 Winter Olympics. |
