![]() There is a bit of drama going on just a few days away from kick-off of the big game but it’s not on the streets of South Beach. The 2010 Super Bowl game rosters are still not completely set with a few players still questionable due to injuries including the Colts star defensive end Dwight Freeney and wide receiver Reggie Wayne. Reports from Miami say that Freeney missed his third straight practice on Friday and is listed on the Colts Super Bowl roster as questionable for Sunday's game against the Saints. Freeney has been trying to recover from a ligament tear in right ankle that occurred during the AFC championship game against the New York Jets. "He's (Freeney) getting better, but we'll see," head coach Jim Caldwell said on Friday. "It's still a day-to-day situation." If that wasn’t bad enough, Wayne injured his knee in practice on Friday but the medical staff doesn’t consider the injury serious and he is listed on the Colts Super Bowl roster as questionable. Hello? Does anyone realize that Wayne had another amazing year with 100 receptions for 1,264-yards and 10 touchdowns? As Allen Iverson once said so eloquently, “We're talking about practice man. We're talking about practice. We're talking about practice. We're not talking about the game. We're talking about practice." The 2010 Super Bowl odds are scheduled with a start time of 6:00pm EST. The backfield also looks like they will have to play with some injuries in Sunday’s Super Bowl game as cornerback Jerraud Powers played today but saw limited action. Powers fractured his foot during the divisional win against the Baltimore Ravens and has probably had screws inserted to the hold the fracture together. Whether or not he will be able to play on Sunday is another story as he is labeled as questionable on the Colts 2010 Super Bowl roster. While the Colts look to pull off the victory by fighting off injuries, the New Orleans Saints cut Friday’s practice short by 20 minutes and had only one player sitting out. Backup running back Lynell Hamilton did not participate with the Saints squad on Friday due to a sore ankle but did some light jogging. As a precaution, Jeremy Shockey, Darren Sharper, Randall Gay, Malcolm Jenkins and hometown boy Jonathan Vilma saw limited action in an effort to keep the players. New Orleans has had nearly two weeks of preparation for when they face the Colts in Super Bowl XLIV, so head coach Sean Payton doesn’t mind resting the star players on the Saints roster. "It was a little warm out here. I think you have to be a little careful, Peyton said on Friday. Some guys would worry about getting all the plays in. All I was concerned about was getting good work in, and we accomplished that." |
