Online Poker: Good Hands and Rush Poker

Learn to play good poker hands and play in Rush Poker events at Full Tilt.

Here is something to keep in mind that almost everyone forgets while playing online poker. Even bad players can pick up good poker hands and anyone is capable of drawing out on you. There are countless online poker hands where the bad player continually calls with 8-4, K-3, Q-5, etc. You then get heads-up into a pot with this player and he turns over a pair of Kings. You wonder “What happened?” It is pretty simple, as everyone will pick up good cards from time to time, its how you play your hand that determines if you will make money.

A lot of online poker players consider the bad players “idiots” because of their poor play. The bad player plays nearly every hand, does stupid things, and looks bad doing them. The problem is that sometimes that bad player will have a good poker hand. Just because he plays a lot of hands foolishly does not mean every one of his hands will be crap. The other problem when playing the bad players in online poker is that even if they have a bad poker hand they can still win.

Let’s say you have a poker hand of Ace-King and the bad player has 6-4 or something similar. You definitely have the advantage before the flop but it is not a monumental edge. It is less than 2-1 actually. If he happens to get lucky and flop a 6 or a 4 then he takes the lead. He could also flop a straight or have a flush draw. Anything is possible in online poker, and even though you started with the best poker hand, you won’t always win. And that is extremely frustrating. Just tell yourself that you will take those situations every time when you get the money in with the better hand.

The other thing you want to remember in online poker is that while the bad player will make poor plays, other players may not. You need to keep in mind that a mixture of bad players and good players may be at the table. You need to concentrate and focus on your own game and not get drawn into making mistakes because an amateur makes a bad play or a pro makes a move. Keep your discipline, concentrate, and always remember that everyone will get a good poker hand from time to time.

Play the newest fast paced poker game, Rush Poker, at Full Tilt. The format for Rush Poker was designed to minimize players wait times between hands. Players will join in a large pool and face different opponents each time they fold. There is no waiting for other players, once you fold, Full Tilt will "rush" you to another table immediately with a new poker hand waiting. "Lots of hands, lots of action; I’m going to be playing a lot of Rush Poker," said Gus Hansen about the new format.
