NFL Week 17 - Showdown in Dallas vs Philadelphia

Eagles at Cowboys - 4:15pm on FOX

It could be the game of the day for the NFL betting crowd on Sunday at 4:15 EST as the Philadelphia Eagles travel to Texas to face their bitter rivals, the Dallas Cowboys in a game that can be seen on FOX. What’s at stake? The winner in this NFL week 17 match-up could be representing the NFC in the Super Bowl. That’s all. The Saints are in a two-game losing streak, the Vikings dropped three of four games. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, as they say in Irving, Texas, the Cowboys have won eight of their last 11 NFL betting games and the Eagles are riding a six-game winning streak.

Heading into NFL week 17 games, both teams have suddenly shot to the top of the betting list of title contenders. What’s an educated sports bettor to do? The Cowboys are a three-point favorite with an over/under total of 47 at online sportsbooks. Youwager’s sports analyst Dick Wells says, “This could be a close and exciting battle. When our customers aren’t convinced that one team has a clear edge, they often prefer to take the points.” Led by DeSean Jackson, The Eagles have terrorized opponents with a rapid-strike offense. They currently rank as the third-best scoring offense at 28.6 points per game."

“Coach Andy Reid usually takes full advantage of their speed with deep throws early in the game,” says Wells. “But the Cowboys are also playing their best football of the season. Tony Romo’s offense has been taking more deep shots early in games, too. Just when many bettors were saying the Cowboys weren't running the ball enough, it seems like Romo finally got the kind of chemistry going with wide receiver Roy Williams that racks up the points. And the defense only allowed 44 yards on the ground last week.”

With a high-scoring offense and a very aggressive defense, the Eagles have everything it takes to be a worthy NFL betting title contender for the Cowboys. Philadelphia has been holding opponents to only 20.9 points per game and they come into this one as winners of six in a row, with half of those wins earned on the road. Heading into the NFL week 17 games, Dallas is 5-2 against the spread following a straight up win but they are 2-6 against the spread at home when playing a team with a winning road record. The Philadelphia Eagles are 4-1 against the spread in NFL odds for their last five games in Dallas. Wells seems to think this game might be a fitting way to close out the regular NFL season. “It’s always fun to see two true rivals duke it out.”

Pienso's NFL Betting Picks: Do I really need to say it? Even though December is over, the Cowboys are 1-9 in January and 5-5 when playing in their division. Philly is 4-1 against the spread in their last five on the road against Dallas so I really don't care if the Cowboys are playing at home in this NFC East matchup, my NFL week 17 betting pick for Sunday's game will be to take Philadelphia on the road plus the points to the UNDER. Vegas odds at Caesars sportsbook have the Dallas Cowboys -3 favorites against the Philadelphia Eagles with a total of 47.
