The Detroit Lions host the Green Bay Packers in Thanksgiving football action on Thursday at 12:30pm EST. The Lions are coming off a thrilling win last week as quarterback Matthew Stafford threw five touchdown passes in a 38-37 win over the Cleveland Browns as 3-point favorites in NFL odds. Unfortunately for the Lions, Stafford may not play in this game against Green Bay since he injured his left shoulder in the victory. "It's unlikely that he's going to play, but we'll see," Detroit coach Jim Schwartz said. "It's a deal if it gets better in a couple of days and it's not as painful, he'll be able to get out there." Green Bay is a 11-point favorite in NFL predictions with a total of 47.5 at online sportsbooks. Detroit has not been a good team on Thanksgiving even though they play on the holiday every year. They have lost five in a row on Thanksgiving and none of the games have been close. They have lost by 37, 11, 17, 20 and 32 points in the last five years. NFL predictions are saying that the Lions will probably have to go with Daunte Culpepper at quarterback and last year in the Thanksgiving game against Tennessee he was terrible. In fact, Culpepper has not played well in any of his Detroit starts and the Lions are 0-7 in those games. Bet the Lions +11 as home underdogs in NFL odds against the Packers. Green Bay has won two straight to get back into the playoff picture in the NFC but lost two defensive starters in last week’s win. Linebacker Aaron Kampman and cornerback Al Harris are out for the season. The Packers have won eight straight against the Lions and 10 of the last 11 overall. They routed the Lions 26-0 in NFL odds in week 6 at Green Bay. Last season in Detroit the Packers won 48-25. NFL predictions are expecting the Packers to have similar offensive success on Thursday against a Detroit defense that is the worst in the NFL. Bet the Packers -11 as road favorites in NFL predictions for Thanksgiving Day football against the Lions. The Packers are 8-3 in their last 11 vs. the NFC North. The Packers are 16-7-1 ATS in their last 24 road games. The Packers are 1-5 ATS in NFL predictions as a favorite for their last 6 Thursday games. The Packers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 NFL betting games in Detroit. The Lions are 7-18-1 in their last 26 games in November. The Lions are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games as a home underdog. The Lions are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 Thursday games. The Over is 12-4-1 in the Packers last 17 road games. The Under is 5-2 in the Lions last 7 home games. The Over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between the two teams. Fernandez's NFL Predictions: Well, unless the Packers eat some turkey before the game and fall asleep... this won't be much of a match-up to start Thanksgiving Day football but sure will be fun to watch! Even though Green Bay is 1-5 against the spread for their last 6 Thursday games, my NFL prediction for this match-up in week 12 will be to take the Packers on the road laying the points to the OVER in a close call parlay at youwager.com. Vegas odds at the Hilton sportsbook have the Green Bay Packers -11 favorites against the Detroit Lions with a total of 48 for this Thanksgiving Day match-up. NFL predictions at youwager have the Packers -11 against the Lions with a total of 47.5. |
