![]() The Denver Broncos (6-1) will try and bounce back from their first loss of the season as they host the Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2) in an ESPN Monday night football AFC showdown. The Broncos are coming off a 30-7 loss to Baltimore as 4.5-point underdogs in NFL odds that saw them struggle in all phases of the game. Now they have to get things together to face a Pittsburgh team that has won four straight. The Steelers are coming off their bye week after they defeated Minnesota two weeks ago. The Broncos are 6-1 straight up, 6-1 against the spread as a favorite in NFL predictions and are 7-3 when playing outside their division. Denver is a 3-point underdog at home in NFL odds with a total of 40 at online sportsbooks for this Monday night football match-up. The Broncos have a 13-6-1 advantage in NFL predictions for the all-time regular season series with the Steelers and they have won the last three meetings. The last time the teams met was two years ago in Denver as the Broncos won 31-28. Pittsburgh has lost their last four games at Denver and has not won there since 1990. Pittsburgh will try and get some balance on Monday on offense, especially since Denver was susceptible to the run a week ago when Ray Rice ran for over 100 yards against them. The Steelers won in week 7 as 6-point favorites in NFL odds against the Minnesota Vikings and are 3-point favorites in NFL predictions for this Monday night football match-up on ESPN. The Steelers have Rashard Mendenhall but he has not gone over 100 yards since week 4. Pittsburgh has been relying on the arm of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger who has 2062 passing yards and 11 TDs. Big Ben will be tested by a Denver defense that ranks first in the NFL. Denver has been efficient on offense for NFL betting totals but not spectacular. Quarterback Kyle Orton rarely makes mistakes and the Broncos score just enough points in NFL betting odds to win games. The running game was poor last week for Denver so they will look for Correll Buckhalter and Knowshon Moreno to do more against Pittsburgh. It may not be easy considering Pittsburgh is first in the league against the run. Pittsburgh is 5-2 straight up, 2-5 against the spread as a favorite in NFL predictions and are 8-2 when playing on grass. The Steelers are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 Monday night football games. The Steelers are 0-5 ATS in NFL odds for their last 5 games as a road favorite. The Broncos are 4-0 ATS in NFL predictions for their last 4 games as a home underdog. The Over is 5-1 in the Steelers last 6 games as a road favorite. The Under is 6-1 in the Broncos last 7 games overall. The Over is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings between the two teams. Lanning's NFL Predictions: I expect the Broncos to bounce back at home against the Steelers in this Monday night match-up. Despite the loss, Kyle Orton threw 23-37 for 152-yards with no interceptions and I love a home underdog. Just to be safe, my NFL pick for this match-up in week 9 NFL odds on ESPN Monday night football will be to take the Broncos at home plus the points to the OVER. Vegas odds at Caesars have the Pittsburgh Steelers -3 favorites against the Denver Broncos with a total of 39.5 for Monday night football. |
