Breeders Cup Odds - Eintstein 12-1 Betting Longshot

Einstein is a longshot in the 2009 Breeders Cup Classic.

One of the dark horse longshots in Breeders Cup odds on Saturday is Einstein who is listed at 12-1 on the morning line. The Helen Pitt’s trained horse has looked very sharp this week in training and could be a surprise winner in Breeders Cup betting. This race could be the last race for the talented Einstein who has won a lot of races for Pitts. "It's hard, hard. I'm always hoping for the best for him," Pitts said. "And he deserves to go be a daddy now. But it will be a sad day in our barn when he leaves. He'll love being a stallion. Don't get me wrong," she said, "'But I think he'll miss being by the office, getting peppermints and carrots. And he'll miss the training."

Einstein will be trying to win for the 12th time in 29 starts with Julien Leparoux in the saddle. Earlier this year the horse won the Santa Anita Handicap. Einstein could win an Eclipse Award as the best older horse of 2009 if he is able to get an upset as a longshot. The horse seems to have taken well to the synthetic track. "The surface feels different than it did when he was here last March," said Pitts, "Back then, it was what I'd call almost fluffy. But it's a lot tighter now. He doesn't seem to feel any difference, though."

Einstein had a quick work, perhaps too quick in preparation for Breeders Cup odds on Saturday. Einstein’s work was the sixth fastest of at the distance on the day he trained. Einstein went four furlongs in :47.80 at Santa Anita Park. “I almost fired myself,” Pitts said, “It’s very hard to tell on this surface how fast you’ve gone. I didn’t think I’d gone that quick. He’s deceiving as much as the track is. He did it easily. I never moved on him. I was looking to just get a nice, easy breeze. … But he likes this track.”

Einstein has not run since finishing second in the Pacific Classic Stakes on September 6th at Del Mar. “He runs well fresh,” Pitts said. “He’s seven years old and he’s danced every dance. He doesn’t have anything to prove. I wanted to him to come in a fresh horse. It’s the biggest race of his life. I didn’t want him to come into it a tired horse.” Einstein is the co-fourth choice in Breeders Cup odds at 12-1 along with Richard's Kid. Zenyatta is the 14-5 favorite in Breeders Cup betting followed by Rip Van Winkle at 10-3 and Summer Bird at 6-1.

Bower's Breeders Cup Predictions: Well this certain throws a monkey wrench into my picks. Four furlongs in :47.80? Are you kidding me? Although that doesn't mean much when the other big boys and girls are jostling you out of position, it is still something to take notice of especially with Julien Leparoux guiding him through traffic. My Breeders Cup pick is to pair Einstein in a few longshot exactas and trifectas but just to be safe, also throw him in with your favorites Zenyatta, Summer Bird, Rip Van Winkle and Mine That Bird at Bodog racebook.
