2009 WSOP November Nine - Darvin Moon and Eric Buchman

Chip leader Darvin Moon and second in chips, Eric Buchman will be two feature players of the November Nine.

In our first two previews of the 2009 WSOP* November nine we featured Phil Ivey, Joe Cada, Kevin Schaffel and Jeff Shulman. Our third edition of poker players making the November nine will focus on Darvin Moon from Maryland and Eric Buchman from New York. Starting the final table as the chip leader with 58,930,000, the 2009 WSOP will be the first live cash payout for Moon who has already secured at least the minimum payment of $1 million dollars and could take home even more if he continues to get amazing cards.

"With the cards I'm getting it's easy. The first hand I sat down I had pocket kings and rivered trips. Three hands later I had pocket aces and flopped trips. How hard is it?" Moon said about his string of luck at this year’s 2009 WSOP which guided him to the final table. Moon began playing poker about three years ago and won his way to the main event through a satellite at a casino in his home town of Maryland. The 45-year old owns a lumber business in Maryland and is as humble as they come, for a poker player that is. "What were there, 6,400 players in this tournament?" Moon said during the tournament. "I'd guess about 6,300 of them are better poker players than I am." Online sportsbooks disagree though with Moon holding more than a quarter of the chips in play. Bet on Darvin Moon 2-1 to win the 2009 World Series of Poker*.

While Moon is a recreational poker player that has had amazing luck to reach the November nine, Eric Buchman is more of a man on a mission… scratch that, a soldier on a mission. Buchman will sit at the final table second in chips with 34,800,000 and has also secured at least a $1 million dollar payout in this year’s WSOP. The 29-year old poker player has made his tours around the poker circuits and has collected more than 20 cashes from the WSOP, WSOPC and the World Poker Tour totaling in over $900,000 for his career.

Buchman’s most recent accomplishments was finishing 6th in Event #25 at the 2009 WSOP ($2,500 Omaha 8 or better) taking home $34,747 and finishing 10th in Event #30 (World Championship Limit Hold'em) also at this year’s World Series of Poker taking home $35,861. Although most of the attention will be on this young poker player from Valley Stream NY, he doesn’t care for all the hoopla, he is here for one thing. "I don't really care about getting recognition," Buchman said after making the November nine. "That doesn't really matter. I'm just here to win money." Bet on Eric Buchman 3-1 to win the main event bracelet at the 2009 WSOP.
