Week 6 NFL Picks - Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers

Lions at Packers - 1:00pm EST on FOX

The Green Bay Packers will look to continue their home dominance over the Detroit Lions as the teams meet on Sunday at 1:00pm EST on FOX. The Packers have won the last 17 home games against the Lions and chances are pretty good they will stretch that to 18 considering they are 13.5-point favorites in NFL picks. Detroit may be without starting quarterback Matthew Stafford and star wide receiver Calvin Johnson on Sunday and that does not help their chances vs. the NFL odds.

The Packers had a bye last week and they had quite a few things to work on considering they are coming off a loss to Minnesota. One of the big keys for Green Bay is improving their offensive line. Sportsbook NFL picks are expecting that Chad Clifton will be back and they re-signed veteran Mark Tauscher. The Packers are still scoring points though as quarterback Aaron Rodgers has passed for 1,098 yards and six touchdowns this season. Donald Driver leads the Packers with 18 catches for 288 yards and two touchdowns. With one more catch he will become Green Bay’s all-time leader in catches, passing Sterling Sharpe.

"Last week I got a call from Sterling just saying, 'You deserve it,'" Driver said, "I told him that to be mentioned in the same breath as him and James Lofton and all of the great guys that played before me, it's an honor." Green Bay has won seven straight overall against Detroit as the NFL pick and 17 in a row at home. The last time the Lions won at Green Bay was back in 1991. The Lions may have to win with backup quarterback Daunte Culpepper who threw for 282 yards with one touchdown and one interception in last week’s loss to Pittsburgh. The problem for Culpepper was that he was sacked seven times and fumbled three times.

Green Bay is 11-9 all-time after their bye week. The Packers have won the last seven games against Detroit by almost 12 points per game. Not all is bad for Detroit in NFL betting lines though. The Lions are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games as a road underdog. The Lions are 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 meetings in Green Bay. The Packers are 7-2 vs. in their last 9 vs. the NFC North. Green Bay is only 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games as the favorite in NFL picks and they are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games as a home favorite.

Fernandez's NFL Picks: Every sports handicapper is taking the Packers at home and can you disagree? My NFL pick will be to take the Packers at home laying the points to the UNDER in a 2-team parlay at Sportsbook.com. Vegas odds at the MGM Mirage sportsbook have the Packers -14 favorites in NFL picks for week 6 against the Lions with a betting total of 47.5.
