![]() A college football coaching legend is under siege at Tallahassee, Florida and is hoping that his team will rally to his cause in front of their home fans that are in an uproar as Florida State hosts Georgia Tech in week 6 college football betting on ESPN2 with a kickoff set for 8:05pm EST. Florida State Seminole coach Bobby Bowden is coaching to save what is left of his long and legendary career as he is facing an open rebellion from Seminole Nation including the chairman of the board of trustees that called for his ouster earlier this week. Bowden deserves the heat as his Seminoles are 2-3 straight up and 1-3 against the college football betting spread and have lost their last 2 consecutive games. This slide has continued a trend in recent years that has seen Florida State fall from the nation’s elite into a team that is struggling to make bowls and have a winning record. Bowden has run this program into a state of disarray over the past few years with the nepotism of his unqualified son serving as offensive coordinator before being paid half a million dollars to get lost along with a power struggle between several assistant coaches with their own agendas. Beyond that, recruiting has slipped significantly and the Seminoles are no longer able to dominate the Atlantic Coast Conference. Somehow, despite their record and ranking only 61st nationally for scoring and 60th for points allowed and facing a leading ACC title contender FSU is a 3 point home favorite for this matchup. The college football odds total is 55. Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket head coach Paul Johnson is feeling nothing but love in Atlanta. Last year he led the Jackets to a 9-4 straight up record, a win over hated Georgia, and a bowl berth. This year he has the Jackets in the thick of the ACC race as they are chasing Coastal Division rival Virginia Tech. The Ramblin’ Wreck enters this one with a record of 4-1 straight up and 2-2 against the spread but with momentum after posting back to back wins and payouts against North Carolina and Mississippi State. Georgia Tech has covered 5 out of the last 6 matchups in this college football betting series and would seem to match up well against FSU as they have the 6th best ground attack in the nation while the Seminoles rank only 54th best at stopping the run. The firestorm in Tallahassee may blow wide open after this one! Bower's College Football Picks: I have picked a majority of underdogs this weekend and although I respect Coach Bobby Bowden, I think his time is up. My college football pick for this week 6 match-up on ESPN2 will be to take Georgia Tech on the road plus the points. Vegas odds at Caesars sportsbook have Florida State football -3 favorites against Georgia Tech with a betting total of 55.5 in college football betting odds. |
