![]() Two of the best teams in the country will get together for a Southeastern Conference showdown with national title implications as the fourth ranked LSU Tigers host the top ranked Florida Gators with kickoff set for 8:05pm EST on CBS. The college football odds for week 6 have Florida as a 10-point road favorite with an over/under of 46 at sportsbooks. Early Vegas odds had this game circled due to the status of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow. Tebow was knocked out of Florida’s last game, which was a blowout win at Kentucky two weeks ago. The former Heisman winner and current Heisman candidate has been practicing this week but head coach Urban Meyer said Tebow’s status is “day to day” and will likely be a game time decision. Meyer said that the decision will ultimately be made by the Florida medical staff. Meyer also confirmed that the team doctors assured him that if Tebow answers the bell at LSU, there is no greater risk for a second concussion this week as there would be later on in their schedule. Florida enters this game with a record of 4-0 straight up and 2-1 against the spread in college football odds. The Gators are averaging 45.5 points per game while allowing a stingy 7.3 points per game on defense. Both of those statistics rank 2nd best in the nation. LSU is coming off a breathtaking win at Georgia last week 20-13 as they got a 33 yard touchdown run from Charles Scott with under a minute to play to steal the win. The win “between the hedges” improved their college football odds record to 5-0 straight up but just 2-3 against the spread. At times it seems as if the LSU Tigers are winning with mirrors as they rank only 61st in the nation for scoring. Their defense has been a solid unit and ranks 17th for points allowed. A huge intangible in week 6 college football odds will be the Saturday Night atmosphere at Tiger Stadium, which is one of the loudest and most boisterous in all of sports. The Tigers have a famed Saturday Night tradition that will only be magnified in this matchup that is the biggest one on the board all weekend. Florida is not likely to be intimated at Tiger Stadium, however, as they have paid off gamblers in 5 consecutive trips to Baton Rouge. Fernandez's College Football Picks: This could be the biggest upset in college football betting or it could just show how dominant Florida is with or without Tebow. My college football pick for Saturday's match-up is to take the Gators laying the points to the OVER in a 2-team parlay. Vegas odds at the MGM Mirage sportsbook have Florida -10 favorites against LSU with a betting line total of 45.5 in week 6 college football odds. |
