![]() The SEC will take center stage at 12:00pm EST for ESPN college football as the Arkansas Razorbacks host the undefeated and 17th ranked Auburn Tigers from Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville. Auburn opened as 2.5-point road favorites in college football betting odds at online sportsbooks with an over/under set for 65. The Auburn Tigers have come out of nowhere to become a threat to win the Southeastern Conference in head coach Gene Chizik’s first season at the helm. Auburn is 5-0 straight up and 4-1 against the college football odds as 4 of those games went over the total. Auburn is coming off a 26-22 win at Tennessee as 2.5 point dogs on the college football lines. Chizik arrived at Auburn after a terrible stint at Iowa State in which he went 5-19 straight up. Auburn fans were less than enthused with the choice and Tiger alum Charles Barkley was highly critical of the move saying that it was in part due to racial bias. But Chizik had strong Auburn ties and a passion for the school as he was defensive coordinator during the Tigers 13-0 college football betting season in 2004. One of the more surprising aspects of Auburn’s success has been that offense has been the key rather than defense, which is Chizik’s specialty. The Tigers rank 5th in the nation for total yards, rushing yards and scoring. Ben Tate leads the ground attack with 540 yards and a 5.6 yards per carry average. Quarterback Chris Todd has been the model of efficiency with a 59% completion rate, 12 touchdown passes, and just 1 interception. After a 7-35 blowout loss at Alabama in their 3rd game of the season the Arkansas Razorbacks rallied for a 47-19 win against previously undefeated Texas A&M last week as 2-point chalks in college football betting. The Hogs got the win in at Cowboys Stadium, which pleased Arkansas alum and former player Jerry Jones, the Cowboys owner, to no end. Ryan Mallett threw for 271 yards and 4 touchdowns in the win. Arkansas now stands at 2-2 straight up and 1-2 against the college football betting odds and is back into bowl contention. Auburn has gotten the cash in 4 out of their last 6 trips to Arkansas but has a bull’s eye painted on them for this one as an undefeated and ranked road favorite against a rejuvenated team in a hostile setting. Bower's College Football Picks: After what the Razorbacks did last week, why would I dare go against them as home dogs? My college football pick for this week 6 match-up on ESPN will be to take Arkansas on the road plus the points. Vegas odds at Caesars sportsbook have Auburn football -2.5 favorites against Arkansas with a betting total of 66 in college football betting odds. |
