![]() The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will start the 2009 NFL betting season with a new head coach, a new starting quarterback and new offensive and defensive coordinators. Whether or not these new changes help turn the Bucs into a winning team in sports odds is another story. Tampa Bay is a 65-1 longshot in NFL betting odds to win Super Bowl XLIV at online sportsbooks. The Bucs will be led this season by Raheem Morris who is the youngest head coach in the NFL. Morris will get some help from new offensive coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski and new defensive coordinator Jim Bates. The problem for the Bucs in Super Bowl odds is that they have no proven quarterback and a questionable defense. The offense this season will be led by either Byron Leftwich or Luke McCown. The Bucs took Josh Freeman from Kansas State in the draft but he is not ready to take over the starting job. None of the three quarterbacks inspire much confidence. The running game should be in better shape with veteran Earnest Graham and free agent pickup Derrick Ward. The Bucs got a breakout season last year from wide receiver Antonio Bryant and they are counting on big things from him again this season in NFL betting odds. He had 83 catches for 1,248 yards and seven touchdowns last year. The team also has Michael Clayton but not much else. The tight end position now seems to be strong though, as the team brought in Kellen Winslow Jr. from the Cleveland Browns. Tampa has a solid offensive line led by Pro Bowl right guard Davin Joseph. The rest of the line has Jeff Faine at center, Jeremy Trueblood at right tackle, Arron Sears at left guard and Donald Penn at left tackle. NFL betting stats indicate that the defense for Tampa Bay has some holes. The defensive line is nothing special with Chris Hovan, Ryan Sims, Greg Peterson, Dre Moore, Gaines Adams and tackle Roy Miller. Kyle Moore could also see time. |
